Under an azure blue sky, green grass sways gently in the soft breeze. A single white flower rests in the warm sunshine. For a while nothing happens. Then the wind tugs a petal free and it rises slowly into the air. It drifts and bobs a few feet above the ground, first one way, then another, in the stray gusts of wind. Gradually it moves closer and closer to a second flower. This one is similar to the first, but hangs with its petals closed. Patiently waiting for something.

Last week I went to the Open Day of a company named Frontier Games. They're based in Cambridge, and are one of the biggest independent game developers in the UK. They're titles probably won't be that familiar to you though. They're biggest hit so far has been Thrillville, which sold very well, but was aimed at children, and so will probably have passed under your radar. David Braben, the founder and CEO of the company, was one of the two writers of the original Elite (and Frontier) games.

As you may have noticed, Fishbob has returned from his travels in snowy Canada. Some, of course (possibly even him), may claim that Canada is not so snowy at this time of year. But I say to them: pah! Canada is always snowy. This is a fact known by all netizens.
